After a devastating fire in 2013, Diamond Build have successfully completed the reconstruction of the Triangle Shopping Centre for Basildon Borough Council.

The complex was officially opened in a ribbon cutting ceremony by the MP Stephen Metcalfe and Basildon Mayor Don Morris on Friday 20 November 2015.

In addition to the six retail units, incorporating a local Post Office, the complex includes residential accommodation in the form of 4 two bedroom apartments and 1 one bedroom apartment above the shops, offering increased security for the units below.

The new dwellings were fitted out to a high specification in preparation for private rental through the Council’s housing management company, Sempra Homes.

The rebuilding of the parade presented the opportunity to deliver a better layout and improvements to the appearance and safety of the area.

All commercial tenants were entitled to return to their respective properties upon completion, and building works were undertaken whilst one of the leaseholders continued trading on site from a temporary unit.

The project was overseen by our Senior Contracts Manager, Walter Reed, who has previously worked with Basildon Council on the substantial refurbishment of the Basildon Centre.

Diamond Build Director Paul Hoskins said: “Diamond Build are delighted to have been involved in the development of the Triangle Centre and believe the scheme will no doubt transform the community and leave a lasting legacy.

Working with Basildon Council we have enjoyed the opportunity of procuring local trades through our supply chain and have employed an apprentice, all of which we believe has benefitted the community.”

Jed Godfrey from Rayleigh was employed on the project while studying at college as part of his construction apprenticeship.

In a newspaper interview with The Enquirer, local Councillor Stuart Sullivan said:

“The development looks fantastic and is a vast improvement on the previous parade. The people of Langdon Hills will benefit from this facility for years to come.”
