ReallySmartHouse project – Smart carbon reduction for Social Housing
South Essex Homes has appointed Diamond Build to be the Coordinating Contractor on a very exciting sustainability project – The ReallySmartHouse. In partnership with The Facility Architects, ReallySmartHouse is a unique scheme set up to investigate innovative carbon reduction technologies, not only for their ease of installation and their effectiveness, but also as importantly their ease of use by the occupants.
The ReallySmartHouse project is particularly pioneering within Social Housing as a key aim of the project is to reduce the carbon emissions from existing dwellings, spread across a preselected set of 4 housing archetypes. The scheme will run for two years with remote monitoring of the properties’ performance til 2014. A variety of technologies will be installed at the 4 different housing types across a range of tenant profile.
An Eco-Hut has been installed at a communal green area central to the project where regular surgeries and coffee mornings will be held for the dissemination of information for residents, and the vital collection of feedback from the participating tenants.
Diamond Build is excited and proud to be involved in this venture with South Essex Homes. With the trust that has built up from a long and fruitful relationship between the housing provider and the contractor, Diamond Build is sure to bring its broad building experience to the new and exciting technologies being investigated by the ReallySmartHouse project.
